A fly in the ointment?
As Judy and I were having lunch today on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, I was reminded of this line about the fly in the ointment.
You need to have the scene set for you to understand what I am talking about.
You see - the Spanish love olive oil - and I am not talking about Popeye's girlfriend.
They lace everything with it, and I mean everything!!
We had ordered a lunch consisting of fish and a salad and of course the salad as well as the fish was swimming in olive oil. Some of the local flies were making a nuisance of themselves, one decided to join me for lunch. It came in for a landing, You guessed it - in my plate of salad and particularly in the olive oil, where I must confess I killed it and with no remorse whatsoever. The only remorse I experienced at all was the fact that it turned my otherwise healthy appetite into extreme disgust with the salad, especially when I picked the dead fly out of the olive oil and threw its lifeless body to the ground with contempt. The meal was just not the same after.
It's like preaching the truth, but only part of it.
The trouble with false doctrines are that they tend to take away people's appetite for truth and it turns them off from reading (eating) the Word of God. Jesus said to beware of false prophets.
I think false prophets are like the fly in the ointment and like the one I encountered today on the shores of the Mediterranean ;it met its Waterloo in my salad.

I have been thinking about
the fly in ointment or for you a fly in your olive oil.
Just as you were turned off from eating your salad because of it,we as Christians must be carful not to turn off others before they get to know the truth. Giving half truths by picking just the part of the Word that you want to keep and not the whole Word of God can do just that.We must live the Word
not just talk it.
If someone knows that you are a Christian, and you turn them off God by your actions or by trying
to force them into your way of thinking we become a fly in God's
ointment.
For me the best way that I can
witness to other is by trying to
live as God wants.I am not someone
that can speak to people easy, but
if I am living for God the best that I can and the people around me see this hopfully I won't become that fly.

A fly in the ointment
A fly on the salad,in the soup or anywhere else not quite the meat we had in mind for lunch.
Lets think of the Fly as sin and the ointment as GOD,are we going to let this little fly keep us from being healed or do we pick it out and use the ointment,in the same way don't let sin keep us from GOD ....get it out of your life.....we can't have both sin and GOD but it is our choice we have to choose what we want [want or need......sin or GOD ] your choice.
Coffee
It really makes me sad to think of good people who we know, being sucked into the trap of the enemy through the lies of false prophets. That’s why is good to encourage each other and always keep our guard up.
And by the way Randall, I enjoy my coffee every morning, even after I flick out all the ants… yum!
