I just received yesterday the followingessay froma dear missionary friend to India and with his gracious permission I want to pass it onto you.

JEHOVAH-SHAMAH

Today in our morning devotion, the Lord impressed upon Kamala and I one of God’s names, which is descriptive of His character and attribute. He is Jehovah-Shamah meaning “God is there” (Ezekiel 48:35).

It is truly assuring and comforting to know that God is here among us. The awareness of His glorious presence became very real to us. The recognition of the transcendence in our midst has mightily inspired us as we began to petition and supplicate on behalf of our prayer partners and supporters of Asia For Christ Ministry. Kamala began to pray for individuals in need of prayer from Trinidad and Tobago to Singapore, from USA to Hope For Asia Bible College in India, and from Canada to Cambodia. I am writing this e-mail because the Lord brought your name to our remembrance as we began to intercede before the Lord. This is not my India mission report, but an encouraging word to you by the sudden prompting of the Holy Spirit upon Kamala and I in our prayer for you.

Yes, our God is there, here, everywhere, at all times! He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will be faithful to us as we go through the deepest discouragement and depression. He is also “Emmanuel” meaning “God with us.” He is our dearest Friend who sticks closer than a brother. Moreover, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He is with us when we go through the dark and surging current of sorrow’s stream. He is with you as you wait for a report from a laboratory test. He is with you as you face critical health problems, chemotherapy or radiation.

In June, Kamala and I will be faced with the reinjured sport surgery of our daughter Joyce, and also surgery for sport injury (torn ACL) for our son Joshua. He is here with us even when these crises cause our children to doubt God. He is with us in our financial stress, emotional overload, and in our spiritual crisis. He is with us here in our acute loneliness, deepest pain, and persecutions (during my three months of ministry in India from January 30 – April 30, 2008, the Hindu mob violently attacked our College at night and caused some damages. Thank God for He was there to protect us from blood bath).

We are inspired by the words of Charles Spurgeon. He said, “It’s good there is one stable Rock in the middle of storms on the sea of life.” We all can thank God for that blessed ROCK the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Since God has been with us in the past, and as He is with us present here and now, He will be there with us in the future, as we will face new challenges ahead. It takes our eyes off our current and future worries, gives us a glimpse of His glorious presence and of His omnipotence to do exceeding abundantly on our behalf (Ephesians 3:20).

The mission trip to India was fruitful and most productive. I knew He was there in India in my loneliness and persecution. He is with you today!
“When we are down to nothing, God is up to something!”

Do you remember this song, GOD IS HERE?

There is a sweet anointing in this sanctuary
There is a stillness in the atmosphere
Come and lay down the burdens you have carried
For in this sanctuary God is here

He is here, He is here
To break the yoke and lift the heavy burden
He is here, He is here
To heal the hopeless heart and bless the broken
Come and lay down the burdens you have carried
For in this sanctuary God is here

Thank you for your prayers.

Randall, thanks for sharing your email with us. It is great when we remember each other in prayer.
God knows what we need and uses others to remind us that He is looking out for us.
Just as you so often did for me in your blogs {knowing just what to say at just the right time} your
friends brother and sister Kutty's
email once again reminds us that God is always here with us.
Thanks again for sharing the good news.
