The church; treasure...or trash? Jesus said " Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."(Matt 6:21) He also said "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." When we gather with friends, what is our conversation about? Is it about the things of God or is it about the things of this world? Jesus said "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things" so this morning(it is still early as I write these thoughts) I am examining my own heart and I ask my self this question "what do I talk about when I am with friends? Is it something that is uplifting? Is it something encouraging? Is it something about Jesus or the Body that is good? What is my conversation like?
As a Christian we know that our foundation is built on Jesus blood and righteousness. Paul writes in 1 Cor. ch 3 vs 11,12, "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ, Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw". ....(Some trash and some treasure in this list), look at vs 13 "each one's work will be come clear for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test each one's work , of what sort it is." Some day we shall give an account of every idle word....are my words treasure or trash? Sometimes I find myself alone in a group, isolated with my own thoughts...do you know what I mean? The conversation is about everything else but the things that are important, things that count. And I wonder if what is said is pleasing in His sight? Is my life showing forth His beauty? Am I walking the way He would have me walk? When people say things that hurt or just ignore us, do we retaliate in kind? What kind of treasure proceeds from my heart...I trust it is an encouragement....treasure not trash
When you love somebody, you will want to be with that person, you will want to say good things about them, you will want to talk to them, you will perhaps carry a picture of them....what about the Lord? Is He my focus? Is He my chief desire? Do I want to be more like Him today? What about you? Does your heart treasure the God who saved you?

Its early and I am still in a fog...time for a coffee and into the blog.....Hi Randall.....your thoughts are hard on the head so early in the morning...but I guess what I write is what I am thinking.
Things of God or things of the world.....In my opinion....GOD owns everything...yes even the world [ we know that everything GOD does is perfect....so lets not blame the world [GOD still owns it ] its all about choice.....things of God or things of the devil [WE ] not we but {I } am the only one who can make these choices [so it is time to put the blame where it belongs [[[ ME ]]] not you, her, him, them,God or even the devil....ME.....so its all about ...........me........should be all about GOD.....GOD "HELP " this sinner to make god,s choices. THis is not what I wrote on paper after I read the blog.....what I wrote on paper was from the head this is from the "" Heart ""

Good word as always Randall. I have been guilty of this as well. I doubt we would talk about someone in the presence of Jesus. If we looked at it as though Jesus was sitting beside us while we were partaking in a conversation in which we shouldnt be, I bet we would feel different about it and feel convicted. Well, Jesus is there with us....all the time. He knows all our thoughts and words that come out of our mouths. Words hurt and they cant be taken back. We, as Christians, need to be encouraging to one another. How do we expect people to change and stop blaming others if we dont uplift, encourage and pray for one another. Jesus does!! Saying positive things brings a positive outcome.

As I read the blog Iam thinking of my conversation and am very sad to say that it is not always what it should be.I am afraid that in this world{that I should not be part of}it is easyer to find fault with other's to talk about than it is to find good.
God forgive me for this.
We can so easyly see the bad but not the good. Why?
When you think about the fact that we will be judged for every idle word,it is enough to strike fear in my heart, and this is a lesson we all need to hear.
God wants us to find the good and help deal with the faults in love if we are able to help at all.
I first have to deal with my own faults which there are many, before I can ever hope to help others.
This is a lessen I am taking to heart and pray that we all will
start to think before we talk.My mother used to say if you can't say something good don't say anything at all, this is a rule I will try to remember.

Hi again,
I don't think I ever made 2 comments on a blog before,but today I am because I think I must say this.
After reading and commenting on the blog,I want and got a new book I got yesterday, and the first thing I opened to was a chapter on the tongue.
Some or the titles were
BeCareful What You Say
Watch Your Words
Don't Say It
Don'tRepeat It..just to name afew.
As you can image they were all about not giving into the need to talk about people.
But it was a small poam that got my atention and said it all.
As you read these words let God speak into your hearts as He spoke to mine.As I pray a blessing on all who read this pass it along and bless someone with your words today and see God work.

A careless word may kindle strife
A cruel word may wreck a life
A bitter word may hate instill
A brutal word may smite and kill
A gracious word may smooth the way
A joyous word may light the day
A timely word may lessen stress
A loving word may heal and bless

Choose the words you speak carefully, remember you can kill of bless with them.
