The Law!
There is a secular song that was written some years ago (not my kind of song really) but the lyrics went like this, "I fought the law and the law won"
There’s something about the nature of man(the sinful nature) that if you know to do a thing is wrong then that is when you want the more to do it. I’m speaking about our sinful nature and I think that is what the apostle is referring to in Ro. Ch.7. Starting with vs. 7 down to vs.12 (include vs. 12) from the NKJV, “What shall we say then? IS THE LAW SIN? Cerytainly not! On the contrary. I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would have not known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment(see now sin takes an advantage because now the temptation factor has increased many fold once our sinful nature knows it’s sin)produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. (parenthesis is mine)
I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.
And the commandment, which was (intended) to bring life, I found to bring death.(parenthesis mine again)
For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.
Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.

This is a picture of my life. Sin is so deceptive, so dastardly, so absolutely despicable that it will use that which is good and just and holy for deceiving Christians and causing them to fail if possible. And all to many times it works. So I must daily realize that the enemy of my soul is still at work and I must keep my guard of defence active… and how do I accomplish that? By putting on the whole armor of God and standing in that armor and having done all to continue to stand.
Eph.6:10-19, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to tand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
And having shod your feet with the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”…..Wow! What a powerful piece of God’s word.
That is the answer for our failures. If we know this armor is available(and we do) then why are we not putting it on?And wearing it every day? It is ours for the taking. It is mine for the taking. It fits …it is customized to fit me…and you. I now realize who the enemy is…actually I‘ve have realized it all along….it’s not flesh and blood….not people…it is the enemy of our souls and he comes in principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places…unseen maybe but he is there and we must put on not just part of the armor but all of it. And the law which is holy and just and good has revealed what sin is. Therefore I must put on the new man which the Bible says was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. And the reference is Gal.4:24
I am saved by the Blood of the crucified One…glory to God! And I'm kept by His Blood every day. I plead His Blood afresh today.
