Talk as we like and laying all criticism aside, yes he did it. I'm talking about Peter. Peter did something that nobody else had ever done before, except Jesus, and that was to walk on the water....a huge lake and in a huge storm, no less. But he had to get out of the boat. If you ask me, that was the biggest step in the faith thing...getting out of the boat. And he must have walked a fair distance because when he began to sink, there was nothing to reach for. Instinctively, wouldn't he have grabbed for the gunwale of the boat if he had still been along it's side? He was a little ways from he boat before he began to sink...and the Bible says that he actually walked on that water; look at these words from Matt. 14:29 "He said, "Come". So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus"...You have got to get out of the boat. If we are to change our world; if we are to be effective for God we will have to get out of the boat. There is a certain amount of security by staying in the boat and a little bit of comfort or so we think, but oh what a difference when you step out of your comfort zone, (in this case it was an old Gallilean fishing boat) and begin to walk toward Jesus. He's there you know. He is always near by. Maybe the Lord has urged you to give a large offering and in so doing He has promised you that He will give it back many times over. That wil require a step of faith on your part...you have to get out of the boat. I read about a preacher back in the days of tent revivals who gave away his large tent to another ministry anf God gavs him a larger one back. Remember the story of the disciples after they let Jesus use thier boat they caught the biggest catch ever? Has He called you to ministry? You may very well have to leave the "boat." It might be fearful when you look out so you need to keep focused on Jesus. Keep your eyes on Him. But what an exhilarating experience it must have been for Peter to actually walk on the water. The new paradigm in the business world talks about risk management...this is risk taking, walking on water, or is it? I think the safest place that Peter could have been that night was out of the boat...but only as he kept his eyes on the Lord Jesus. It was when he heard the wind and when he saw the waves he became frightened and began to sink. When you hear bad news or when you see the obstacles, the circumstances, does it shift your focus off of the Lord and begin to see only the problems?
For me perhaps I need to depend more on Him and less on medication...maybe that would be getting out of the boat However remember what Peter said, "Lord, if it is you command me to come to you on the water". Just make certain that it is the Lord who is there before you get out of the boat. He is lways near in case you sink...

Peter on the water
I think Peter's faith was amazing and what trust he showed in the Lord.....but so short lived I think when we except Jesus we all have this same amazing faith & trust.....we jump out of our boats and grab onto Jesus and everything is great....but the first sign of a storm...we let go of his hand and down we go....how far we sink is up to us....because.....Jesus's hand is always outstretched ......but we have to reach out and grab on to it and keep hanging on and we do until we feel safe again and down we go again and again.....I think .....this isn't going to change so I hope I can learn not to sink to deep before I reach out and grab onto his ever out-stretched hand and pray that Jesus has hold of it when my time here is over and HIM & I can walk on water together anytime we want
You are so right about how we react to the storms in our lives. How we react depends a lot on how our lives turn out. I recently heard from a wise man that if you were to jump in the cold ocean, you need to jump in with both feet and not take your time. It makes it harder to get in the water if you do it that way. We need to trust Him completely to hold us up!! Thank God he is there with us every step of the way. Where would we all be without him?
Good day Randall
Getting out of the boat might be
the hardest thing you will ever do.
Because when you leave the boat or
your comfort zone, you are in a
place were you have to trust God.
You know you are in over your
head and with out Him you will fail. But take it from me, someone
who was so shy that in school I
would get sick just knowing that
I had to talk out loud.
When you trust God He will do
amazing things for you.
He can take someone that shy and
give them a ministry were they are out in front of people and loving
it.
He can make you a sunday school
teacher or a kids leader.
Whatever He leads you to,maybe
it will be a missions trip,or a
car wash to raise money for
someone else to go,what ever it is
you will be blessed.Trusting God
is the best thing you will ever
do for yourself and others around
you. When your family see the change
in you they will know that it is God in your life that they are seeing.

Snowball here :
Just read your blog and was thinking how like Peter we all are ...at one time or another in our christian walk .We are walking along just great [a mountain top experience ] nothing disrupting or disturbing our lives and then it happens.....everything is thrown at us and we find ourselfs sinking under the blowing winds and raging seas. Where is our faith and trust that we claim to have in jesus ?
Some of us tend to pull away from Jesus and run the other way ,others tend to turn inward and cower in fear of the circumstances instead of what we know what we should do; hold on to Jesus, tie another knot for security { get into the word } and continue on our way, knowing we can trust Jesus with everything from the smallest bump in the road to the greastest pot-hole that we could loose a car in!!!
Peter did what he knew would work ......he called out to Jesus for help !!! Friends & family can help but as christains our trust in Jesus is the only real help we need. He is our security in rough seas....our Great Physician in heath problems and our PEACE when storms rage,so I encourage you brothers & sisters STEP out of the boat totally.....put blinders on to the storm raging all around you and put your hand .....faith and trust in our " JESUS " and we will never, never ever SINK !!!!!!!!!!
