Easter's story; execution by crucifixion.
Execution by crucifixion, what a cruel way to die,
On an old wooden Roman cross,Christ was lifted up on high
Oh the pain He has BORNE, as His flesh was so torn ;
There was nothing about Him to make us want Him
Nothing beautiful nor majestic yet He carried my sin
Then a spear pierced His side; water and blood poured forth
And He cried it is finished...He'd finished the course
Oh! He died yes He died this Man crucified
And God laid upon Him all my foolish pride
All my guilt and my sin Jesus took upon Him
Exucuted by crucifixion, what a terrible sin
Roman soldiers were so used to it , they did it all the time
The Appian Way was filled with crosses in a line
But when the sky was blackened and the sun refused to shine
The centurion said truly this was the Son of God
And just then the veil was rent in the temple of the Lord
He said Father forgive them for they know not what they do
He was saying it for that time but it was also for me and you
For it was our sins that caused Him to die upon the tree
Yes it was an old wooden cross that day on Calvary.
And when the veil was rent in the temple that day
It provided for me and you a glorious way
To go in to the Holy of Holies to the Presence of God
A place where beforehand no man has ever trod
It will be a glorious meeting, that meeting in the air
And the saved of all the ages will all be gathered there
Yes it was His execution that provided the way
And though we think it was a terrible day
Yet I rejoice because Jesus died there on the cross
Were it not for that execution, man would be forever lost

Wonderful thoughts - thank you again for reminding me of the cross. How differently I would live my life if I truly got a picture of what Christ did on the cross for me. (I first wrote this sentence using the plural pronoun - "we" - but then realized I have control of only me - my life.
What an amazing plan! "I stand amazed . . and wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean" - all too much for me to understand. Am glad I can receive it even though I don't understand it.
Blessings on you, Randall
